A new art consultancy in Tauranga will launch its first exhibition in

the city tomorrow evening.

George Perry Ltd will source art and advise on works and will operate as a dealer gallery holding shows in and around Tauranga and at soon to be opened premises in Devonport. It is headed by artist George Savill and his partner Phillida Perry. The pair are combing the opening of the art exhibition, Fabricated Rooms (the decorator's dream) by Jane Henzell, with a fashion show at page 74 in First Avenue.

The Art show and fashion preview are a nice compliment to each other, says Ms Perry. Fabricated rooms features work by Auckland artist Henzell who has a career in fine arts, interior design and architectural design. She has a Master of Fine Arts (Painting) from RMIT University and lecturers at Auckland's UNITEC School of Design.

Her exhibition is a “blurring of childhood memories, recollections of wallapaer, cheap counterfeit Pacifica and the heady perfumery of Resenes Colourshop”. Images of flower forms, Pacifica patterns and fabrics “enable the viewer to ponder the highs and lows of New Zealand suburban culture” while paying homage to the artists ongoing fascination with colonial New Zealand flower painting.

The exhibition runs until the April 10.
