The watercolour paintings respond to New Zealand's changing climatic conditions. Auckland's seasonal shifts, the global effects on local climatic conditions, in combination with the fast changing physical, cultural and commercial environment within inner city Auckland, has provided the stimulus for this series of work. Images of clouds, smog and catalogued Pacifica patterns and bandanas (found at local $2.00 Shops) allows the viewer to ponder the highs and lows of an inner city New Zealand culture. This new work connects pattern with the sky.

Water colour painting is a New Zealand iconographic tradition which is re evaluated in ‘Hazy Days' , in terms of the repositioning of the representation of sky and pattern, within contemporary New Zealand painting practice and Auckland's visual culture.
